Extra Bits
Episode Trivia
1-1: The Butterflies and Bees
  • Guest Voices:
    • King Butterfly - Matt Berry
    • Queen Bee - Kathy Burke
    • Jack DeWorms - Sam Rockwell
    • Soldier - Ray Winstone
  • In the final scene of the episode, You might notice a flower behind Finn, coloured similarly to a "Dog Rose". A Dog Rose culturally represents a combined feeling of pain and pleasure, reflecting Finn's feelings: Pleasure in reliving his old adventuring days, and pain in the guilt he feels leaving his family life behind to do it.
  • Much of the buildings in the Fire Kingdom are based on that of European cities, primarily Amsterdam and Berlin, to reflect the traditional values and isolation of the kingdom, compared to the rest of Ooo in the past 15 years.
1-2: Diplomacy
  • In the scene at The Candy Bar, Cinnamon Bun is seen hiding behind a newspaper named "The Daily Moonshine", a parody of the UK newspaper "The Sun".
    • The word "moonshine" comes from the phrase "moonshining", meaning to expose one's buttocks.
    • The front page headline, "Joey ate my Wife!", is based on the infamous headline "Freddy Starr ate my Hamster"; a natural evolution seeing how most of the citizens are candy.
  • Compared to the Fire Kingdom, the Candy Kingdom is significantly more "modern" in design, being based primarily on American cities such as Minneapolis. These reflect the modern image that the kingdom attempts to present, though it later turns out to be a facade.
  • Some of the formations of the stones around the El Hotel parking lot hint at events in the season, both past and future, For example, You might be able to spot Jake's eyes and nose in a couple of the rocks, hinting towards his return.
1-6: The Spirit of Crimmas
  • Guest Voices:
    • The Lich - Jon Bailey
  • The episode went through many names prior to settling on its final title. Initially, focus was placed primarily on the Finn and FP subplot with the name "Fluffy Christmas Episode", with this later evolving into "The Joy of Crimmas" and "The Gift of Crimmas". However, since a major point in the episode is Jake's return to the cast, the name of "The Spirit of Crimmas" was chosen to marry the two threads together.
  • Whilst The Lich's speech is meant to be a dramatic and bone-chilling monologue, the line "fully grown little boy" to describe Sweet-P is a nod to a line featured in the trollpasta "GameBoy Advance SP Blue Edition Creepypasta", by Chris O'Neill of OneyPlays fame.
